... the adventures of patrick, karen, jeremiah, emma, and their faithful dog mac...

bubbles, baseballs, and big boy pants...

hi everybody! how's life? things north of the boarder are going well. we continue to keep plugging away at school and work, all along attempting to keep up with our little guy.

karen is still working hard at starbucks. she was recently promoted to shift supervisor! the upside of this is that she got a nice pay raise; unfortunately, it has also brought about a bit of attitude from some of her coworkers (they apparently don't think their boss should ever tell them what to do).

she is also trying to make the most of our grad school experience. jeremiah and i often have guy time, so she can slip away to attend an evening lecture at regent or simply go to the library to read and study.

as for me, only two weeks of class and the ever-dreaded finals week stand between me and the end of the semester. its hard to believe that when this term is behind me, i'll be half way done with my masters degree! as i look back, i can say without a doubt that this has been an extremely demanding, as well as mentally taxing, experience for me; it has also been a rewarding and life-changing experience too.

jeremiah continues to grow and do new and exciting things each day. within the last month, he has taken an interest in feeding himself. he's pretty handy with a spoon, but when all else fails he just goes at it without.

rarely a moment goes by when he isn't throwing around his football (never too early to get in the spirit for osu football), basketball (just in time for ncaa march madness), or baseball (opening day is right around the corner). we have spent a lot of time playing toss and he enjoys practicing all day while i'm at school (karen sure loves that).

he also loves to jump on our bed/couch (depending on what time of the day it is- remember our apartment is a shoe box?), steal mac's dog toys, and play with the bubbles his mommy gave him. mac loves this last activity, as he once had a bottle of bacon-flavored dog bubbles.

in other news, we had our first set of visitors in early march! during spring break, jeremiah's great-grandparent's spent a few days with us. in that time, we ate a lot, played cards, and they played with jeremiah. grandpa and i also got to talk about the cubs (there aren't many canadians interested in talking baseball... its always hockey this, hockey that).

well, that's all for now. anything new worth telling us about? we'd love to hear from you!

Hey Patrick, Karen, and Jeremiah!

It's wonderful to hear from you and see pictures of Jeremiah. Very cute and chubby.

It seems like you have quite a busy household! Congratulations on making it this far through seminary. May God continue to give you strength to make it the rest of the way.

I wish you all the best. My prayers are with you.

Sincerely,
David Kinnen

I love these pictures and your commentary. I especially liked the ones of Jeremiah eating his oatmeal and with Mac and his ring. Jeremiah looks cute in your Kermit the Frog shirt.

Love and kisses,

Hi Patrick, Karen, & Jeremiah,
Thanks for the pictures and the news. It is good to hear from you. Congrats, Karen, on your promotion, and Patrick for being 1/2 way through school. That has to make you feel good!
Jeremiah is a great looking boy! When I saw the "Big Boy Pants" title I thought he was wearing big boy pants on his bottom. I was going to ask you for your secret for Xavier. From the pictures I saw, you look good and happy. I'm proud of you all, and I love you very much.
Love,
Aunt Debbie

Patrick, Karen, and Jeremiah,

Hello! It's great to see that you're doing so well up north. Enjoyed seeing the pics of Jeremiah. He's a great looking little boy and appears to be growing like a weed.

Congrats, Patrick, on your progress in school. It's a tremendous challenge, but the great reward will come later(unlike rooting for the Chicago Cubs, which will never produce any kind of reward.)

Best wishes and Godspeed,

Joe L

Hello Patrick and Karen,

Thanks for updating your blog with the new pictures. Jeremiah is growing up SO fast!

By the way, once you all survive finals, are you heading back to Ohio or staying in Canada? I think I heard somewhere that you were going to be in Ohio for the summers while you were in grad school. However, I know how situations can often necessitate a change in plans.

Love Aunt Ruth
